RFRSH Entertainment has revealed more details concerning the BLAST Pro Series, including tournament format and prize-pool distribution.
The BLAST Pro Series will kick off with an event in Copenhagen, Denmark, from November 24-25, where six invites teams will battle it out for their share of the $250,000 prize-pool.
Teams will face each other once in a best-of-one round robin group stage, with three matches being played simultaneously. The first two rounds of matches will be played on Friday at an as-yet undisclosed location, while the rest of the tournament will be held at the Royal Arena.
The top two teams from the group stage will face each other in the best-of-three grand final, while the teams ranked third to sixth will play the BLAST Pro Standoffs, two $10,000 winner-takes-all matches. The third-placed finisher gets to pick their opponent, indirectly determining the other match-up as well.
Here is how the prize-pool distribution for the event looks:
1. $125,000
2. $50,000
3. $25,000
4. $15,000
5. $10,000
6. $5,000* +$20,000 via the Standoffs
Below you can find the factors that will be considered if teams are tied for points at the end of the group stage:
- Match wins between tied teams
- Round difference between tied teams
- Round difference for the whole group
- Sudden Death Shootout (only for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place rankings)
If a tie between three or five teams happens, RFRSH will adopt the Sudden Death Shootout, a series of 1on1 aim duels between players. Below you can find more details about this tiebreaker scenario:
Each team will play each other. For each match, both teams will blindly submit their players, in a 1 to 5 order, for duels to the tournament officials.
The first players listed will play a 2 minute aim map duel, with the highest kills scoring a point for the team. The second players will then play, followed by the third and if needed, fourth and fifth.
If two players are tied on kills after 2 minutes, the duel will be recorded as a draw and both teams will be awarded a point.
A team will win the match by gaining a score that the opposition cannot equal within five duels or if the points are tied after five duels, a sudden death duel will occur. Each team will pick a single player for a final duel, the winner will take the match. This duel will be extended until a winner is determined.
